New STARRs Are Born at John J. Daly Elementary
Fifth graders became leaders to the younger students thanks to a new program.

Fifth graders at John J. Daly Elementary led the school in learning about pride respect and leadership through a new program called the Daly STARR Fifth-Grade Leaders Club.
The inaugural members of the Daly STARR Fifth-Grade Leaders Club were recently honored for becoming a leader to younger students.
The STARR program brings students and staff together to ensure a Safe, Truthful, Accepting, Responsible and Respectful environment for the entire school. During a ceremony held in front of the building, fifth-graders took an oath to uphold the responsibilities of being a Daly leader and were presented with Daly leader bandanas signifying their role.

According to Principal Sheri Suzzan, the students will be permitted to wear the bandanas regularly in order to serve as visible role models for others while assisting the faculty, staff and administration in ensuring an ongoing sense of pride and respect throughout the building. The new STARRs were very excited and proud of their new role, and as one fifth-grader said, “I feel really appreciated sitting up here in front of the school.”
