New Street Name Signs in North Hempstead Will Be Easier to Read

The Town hopes a few revisions will help residents better read street names during poor weather conditions.

Here’s some good news for people who find it impossible to read the names of street signs while driving.

The Town of North Hempstead plans on installing new street signs that will be easier for drivers to read, especially during poor weather conditions.

The street signs will have a higher level of reflectiveness and the street names will have mixed capital and lowercase lettering, which follows uniform regulations.

“These new street name signs are much clearer and easier to read,” Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth said in a statement. “I am sure that anyone who has driven around looking for a street name, especially in inclement weather or at night, will appreciate the larger lettering and new format. After all, GPS can only get you so far. We still require clear signage for our street names.”

The current street signs, which are printed in all capital letters, will be replaced as they become damaged or accumulate significant wear and tear.
