North Shore University Hospital Nurse Awarded National Honor
Sherley John, a nurse at North Shore University Hospital, was recognized for her efforts on a national level.

MANHASSET, NY--FROM NORTHWELL HEALTH: Sherley John, RN, was recognized as one of 14 national winners of the 2019 Circle of Excellence Award from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). John works as a critical care nurse at North Shore University Hospital in the neurosurgical intensive care unit. She was the lone New York nurse to receive the honor.
The award is for nurses who provide outstanding service while working with acutely and critically ill patients and their families.
âShe truly sets the standard for exceptional patient care while advancing the nursing profession through her role as a researcher, advocate, mentor and teacher,â Kerri Scanlon, RN, chief nursing officer at North Shore University Hospital and deputy chief nursing executive at Northwell Health, said.

John and the other 13 honorees will be recognized at AACNâs National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition in Orlando from May 20-23. They'll receive a $1,000 honorarium and plaque. The winners will also become members of the Circle of Excellence Society.
