One Night Only: Original Cast of Tony-Winning 'A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder' Reunite for Valentine's Night Cabaret

The original stars of the Tony-winning “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder,” whose Broadway run closed Jan. 17, will reunite for a special cabaret evening in historic Hempstead House, hosted by the show’s composer Steven Lutvak, on Saturday, Feb. 13. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for a private pre-concert cocktail reception and a moderated Q&A discussion with the entire cast in the elegant second-story Breakfast Room, which is rarely open to the public.

Joining Lutvak are Tony-winner Jefferson Mays (Best Actor in “I Am My Own Wife”), Bryce Pinkham, Lisa O’Hare (Outer Critics Circle Award - Featured Actress in “Gentleman’s Guide”) and Catherine Walke. The cast will reprise a series of songs in celebration of this highly acclaimed musical.

“I’m thrilled to be coming back to the Sands Point Preserve, which has, over the last few years, really become a musical home for me,” Lutvak said.

The cabaret takes place in the Winter Living Room at Hempstead House, known for its acoustic excellence and once the home of Daniel and Florence Guggenheim, patrons of the arts who lavishly entertained guests there. Guests will dine in the mansion’s grand main floor rooms, complete with roaring fireplaces – an ideal setting for a Valentine’s celebration.

In addition to performing hits from “Gentleman’s Guide,” Lutvak noted the cast would touch on “some of the development of the show, and share insights and memories of the entire, 26-month experience of my Broadway debut,” which, Lutvak said, saw more than 900 performances on the Great White Way.

“To hear songs from Gentleman’s Guide, performed by this phenomenal cast, is a great romantic irony for Valentine’s eve,” said Beth Horn, managing director of the Sands Point Preserve, “In lead character Monty Novarro, Steven and lyricist Robert L. Freedman created a complete cad – a delightful nightmare for both female leads. He’s the anti-Valentine – and it’s all hysterically funny.”

General tickets for the Valentine’s Night Cabaret are priced at $125 and include 7 p.m. cocktails, buffet dinner catered by Philip Stone, concert and dessert with the artists. A limited number of VIP tickets, at $250, are available for a special 6 p.m. cocktail reception featuring an in-depth and interactive Q&A conversation with the cast – with questions encouraged from the guests – followed by dinner, concert and dessert.
