Over 100 Firefighters Battle Blaze At Sands Point Home

Officials say the generator fire in Sands Point was reported just before 10 a.m. Monday.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — More than 100 firefighters from 14 different departments battled a blaze Monday morning at a home in Sands Point.

Port Washington fire officials say the generator fire at 30 Arden Lane was reported just before 10 a.m. Two residents were inside the home at the time.

When crews arrived, they conducted a search of the home and found that the fire originated from a basement utility closet. Authorities say the fire extended up the walls and through the first and second floors. Despite the fire's spread, an inspector for the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze was relatively contained.
