Pay for Parking on Your Phone, Town Adds New Parking Spots

Check out the services provided by the Port Washington Parking District that you might not know about.

How would you like to pay for parking with your cell phone?

A new program is in the works that would allow Port Washington residents to pay for parking on their mobile phones.

This new service, implemented by the Port Washington Parking District and Pango Mobile Parking, would remove the hassle of dealing with parking machines and would take the worry out of receiving a parking ticket.

The service is available for iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Windows and other cell phones. Drivers will still have the ability to pay with quarters.

Do you know about additional Port Washington Parking District Services:

  • The Town of North Hempstead is currently adding more merchant parking spots located in a new parking lot at 1070 Port Washington Boulevard. The 27 additional spots will help alleviate the need for parking in the downtown area.
  • The Port Washington Parking District is no longer accepting cash payments for parking permits and vouchers for security and efficiency reasons. Tender of payment is accepted through credit cards, checks, money orders and Commuter Check Card Prepaid MasterCard.
  • The Town is currently looking to allow residents to pay for permits and vouchers through the Internet.
  • To stay up-to-date on live updates on closures, office hours and more, “like” the Port Washington Parking District Facebook page, visit the Port Washington Parking District’s website, or sign up for email blasts by emailing portparking@northhempsteadny.gov.
  • Regular office hours for the Parking District are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. District residents can purchase a yearly sticker parking permit, and monthly or daily vouchers. If a motorist is not available during those times, they should call 311.
  • You can contact 311 to report a broken meter or if you have any questions about the Parking District.
  • To purchase a permit, the resident must provide the following: a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and a utility bill dated within the last four months. Applicants must have their vehicle present at time of purchase for an annual permit.
