Photo of The Day: Sousa Spirit Soars at Pride in Port Parade
'The March King' makes a special appearance in the popular Port Washington event.

John Philip Sousa – also known as ”The March King” – made a special appearance at this year’s Pride in Port parade, thanks to Sousa Elementary School families.
More than 150 students and parents marched together along Port Washington’s Main Street. As Mat Lanfant told Patch,
Sousa families had worked together to make the day extra special by building a Sousa float for the festivities. Sousa marchers were all smiles as Port Washington residents cheered loudly when they saw the 12-foot John Philip Sousa puppet atop a sousaphone rolling down the parade route.
