Police: Thefts From Cars on the Rise in Nassau County
There were 14 reports of larcenies from cars in Nassau County from Nov. 5-9.

There has been a recent increase in larcenies from cars throughout Nassau County, according to Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter and County Executive Ed Mangano.
Unlocked vehicles have been targeted at all times of the day and night, which has led to 14 reports of larcenies from cars from Nov. 5-9 in Nassau.
Below are reports of thefts from cars, according to the most recent Nassau County crime report.

Thursday, Nov. 5
Someone entered a car and removed cash on Wilmot Drive in Hewlett.

Someone entered a car and stole the handicap parking permit on Cushing Avenue in Williston Park.
Friday, Nov. 6
Someone removed the driver’s side mirror of a car on Elbow Lane in Levittown.
Someone entered a car and removed an iPod and some loose change on East Avenue in Hicksville
Someone entered a car and stole a leather briefcase containing work papers on Elmira Street in Hicksville.
Someone entered a car and stole a Louis Vuitton pocketbook and a Louis Vuitton wallet with contents on Kingston Avenue in Hicksville.
Someone removed the driver’s side view mirror from a car on Stratford Avenue in Williston Park.
Saturday, Nov. 7
Someone entered a car and stole a Canon PowerShot camera on N. Albany Avenue in North Massapequa.
Someone ransacked a car and removed a wallet with its contents on N. Meadow Road in North Merrick.
Someone entered a car and removed a checkbook, car fob and miscellaneous papers on N. Syracuse Avenue in North Massapequa.
Someone entered a car and removed a computer with accessories on Columbus Avenue in Oceanside.
Sunday, Nov. 8
Someone entered a car and removed a Chanel bag at the Lake Success Shopping Center, located on Union Turnpike in North New Hyde Park.
Someone entered a car and stole a cellphone on Lardy Lane in Westbury.
Monday, Nov. 9
Someone entered a car and stole cash from the glove compartment at the Benihana parking lot, located on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset.
Nassau County Police advise residents to take the following actions to prevent thefts from cars:
- Always lock your vehicle, even when it’s parked in your driveway or garage.
- Never leave or hide a smart key, valet key, or spare key anywhere in or on your vehicle, no matter where you park it.
- Never leave valuables in your vehicle.
- If possible, park your vehicle in a locked garage.
- Keep the exterior of homes and driveways well illuminated.
- Close all your vehicle windows completely when parked.
- Secure your garage door opener to prevent access to your home.
Anyone who sees something suspicious should immediately dial 9-1-1.
