The Political Glass Ceiling - Cracked But Not Shattered
Program on women gaining political office, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset.
The League of Women Voters of Port Washington – Manhasset is sponsoring "The Political Glass Ceiling - Cracked but Not Shattered," – what should be a thought provoking discussion. Topics will include the challenges women face and the strategies they can use when running for political office.
The event will take place Wednesday, April 5, at 7p.m. in the Lapham Meeting Room, Port Washington Public Library, 1 Library Drive, Port Washington, New York 11050.
Guest speakers include: Traci Levy, chair, Political Science Department and director, Gender Studies at Adelphi University; Brette McSweeney, president, Eleanor’s Legacy, an organization working to elect women to state and local office in New York State; Tammie S. Williams, community organizer who currently serves as district director for Sen. John Brooks; and Jamie Franchi, executive editor of Morey Publishing who has been published in the Long Island Press and the New York Times, as well as other outlets.
