Port Washington Bike Tour to Benefit Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation

There will be scenic bike tours for people of all ages and ability levels.

Travel through scenic routes of Port Washington during a bike tour that will be held in memory of two members of the community who passed away from blood cancers: Laura Ann Intintoli and Lauri Strauss.

The fourth annual LSLF Ride for Research Bike Tour has routes to accommodate people of all ages and ability levels.

The Ride will benefit the Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation and its work toward finding a cause and cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin disease, multiple myeloma and allied cancers.

The bike tour will be held on Sunday, May 17. This year’s tour features three routes:

  • 21 miles
  • 14 miles
  • 3.3 miles

“The short tour is fun for children, the long tours are challenging for adults due to their varied terrains, and walkers will enjoy the scenic short tour,” said Evelyn Strauss, president of LSLF.

The tour will start at the Port Washington Train Station - Haven Avenue Lot. Bikers will be taken through areas of Port Washington and Incorporated Villages of Flower Hill, Manorhaven, Plandome and Sands Point.

Laura Ann Intintoli is the late wife of Ralph Intintoli, the owner of Port Washington Bicycles. The Ride is being held in conjunction with Port Washington Bicycles in Laura’s Honor.

Lauri Strauss is the daughter of Evelyn and the late Herb Strauss, sister of Julie Safran.

There will be food and drink, massages and a marrow drive, which entails nothing more than a cheek swab. No registration for donors is necessary.
