Port Washington Boys Volleyball Earns Scholar Athlete Team Award
Team recognized by state athletic association.
Congratulations to the Schreiber Varsity Boys Volleyball Team, which recently earned the distinction as the “New York State Public High School Athletic Association Fall 2012 Scholar Athlete State Champion.”
The team’s unweighted grade point average of 96.339 was the highest GPA of all the other volleyball teams in New York State.
Their coach, Maria Giamanco, is pictured with the boys from the team, which attained the status of Scholar Athlete. Also pictured are Ira Pernick, Principal, Dr. Kathleen Mooney, Superintendent, Stephanie Joannon, Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics and their Assistant Coach (and former Schreiber student) Chris Ryder.

Earlier in February, the team was recognized by the Port Washington School Board.
The banner will be hung proudly in Schreiber High School.
