Port Washington Company Inks Deal with Isaac Mizrahi Brand

Isaac Mizrahi in Port Washington? When it comes to the business of home furnishings – furniture, rugs, and more – yes.

Safavieh, a manufacturer and importer, whose headquarters and warehouse are based in Port Washington, has just signed an exclusive licensing agreement with the brand management firm Xcel Brands, Inc., where Mizrahi serves as creative director.

The agreement will give Safavieh the license to manufacture and distribute furniture, rugs, decorative pillows and lighting for the Isaac Mizrahi New York brand. The collection will debut at retail in the spring of 2013.

Safavieh’s President Arash Yaraghi said in a statement that the company is “thrilled to collaborate with Xcel Brands and Isaac Mizrahi.”

“We will bring Isaac's taste and style to consumer's homes with beautiful designs for furniture, rugs, lighting and decorative pillows,” he added. “Isaac has cleverly taken the best of his bold, contemporary fashion and color philosophy and translated it into timeless, cosmopolitan looks that people will want to continue into their homes."

Mizrahi put it this way: "The right home makes for a happy life. I believe that if a person surrounds themselves with light happy wonderful furniture, rugs, lighting, etc., they will have a light, happy, wonderful life."

Robert D'Loren, Xcel Brand’s chairman and chief executive office, said he was "very excited to partner with Safavieh to launch our furniture, rug and lighting collection,” adding that the license is “a cornerstone of our home business."
