Port Washington Biz On 'Today'

Company receives orders for 1,000 units as a result.

For entrepreneurs, product placement on a morning show can do wonders for business. It’s the chance to tell millions of viewers all about your product, why it’s special, and where to buy it.

But be prepared for the slew of orders that can follow. Just ask Sharon Tracy.

Tracy is the founder of Port Washington-based , a Belgian chocolate soufflé cake that can be prepared in under three minutes. The easy-to-make treat features all the necessary ingredients, pre-measured and packaged in a customizable coffee mug you can pop in a microwave. All of the product is handpacked.

Soon after, Tracy, unexpectedly received 1,000 orders for her product.

Inventory can be a tricky thing, noted Tracy, who is now geared up for holiday orders. Too much stock, and it can sit on a shelf. Not enough, and you could wind up disappointing customers with back orders. So it was a good thing she had a team in place to step up production when the orders came in.

"I wouldn’t have been able to pack and ship all my product out with out the fabulous, dedicated team at Madison Cortland ARC in upstate New York," Tracy said, referring to an organization that employs men and women with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

"They said to me 'anything is possible,' and they got the job done," she said. "I couldn’t of asked for a better team."
