The Port Washington Fire Department is hosting an all-you-can-eat BBQ on Saturday, June 1 to benefit a local family.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY–The Port Washington Fire Department will be hosting an all-you-can-eat B.B.Q. to benefit a local family.
Robert Contino is a 31-year veteran of the Port Washington Fire Department. He and his wife Toni have four children. Earlier this year, Toni was diagnosed with breast cancer. In addition, their son Sam, a college lacrosse player, received a CAT Scan following an injury. As a result, he was diagnosed with a brain condition known as Chiari Malformation. Sam successfully underwent brain surgery this past Tuesday. Toni is continuing her fight after undergoing intensive surgery.
On Saturday, June 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., people can enjoy sausage and peppers, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade potato & macaroni salad coleslaw and baked beans. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and door prizes. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Dinner and two complementary beverages are included; beer and wine will be sold separately. All proceeds will aid the Contino family.

"As one of the oldest and largest organizations in the community, the Port Washington Fire Department is a very big family," Chris Bollerman, chairman of the Port Washington Fire Department told Patch. "As a family, we know we can't take away the physical or emotional pain the Contino Family is suffering, so it is our hope that we can raise funds and try to ease their financial pain. As the community's volunteer first responders, we are equipped and trained to deal with all types of emergencies in the community. However, we can only handle this emergency with the help and support of the great people of this great community."
The event will take place at the Atlantic Hook & Ladder Company at 25 Carlton Ave.
