Port Washington Police Commissioner Election Results After Recount

The original results were contested by candidate Steve Kaplan.

The Port Washington Police Commissioner’s election results were recounted after candidate Steve Kaplan contested the Dec. 8 results.

After counting the absentee ballot votes, the results changed, but the winner remained the same.

It was determined that Angela Lawlor Mullins won the election by 27 votes, which is down one vote from the initial election.

The absentee ballots were reviewed and examined at a meeting on Monday, which was held at the office of the Port Washington Police District’s attorney, Richard Finkel.

  • Angela Lawlor Mullins: 322
  • Steven Kaplan: 295
  • Ronald Rochester: 157

The original results were:

  • Angela Lawlor Mullins: 310 votes
  • Steven Kaplan: 282 votes
  • Ronald Rochester: 155 votes

Kaplan was represented by Fred Pollack and Lawlor Mullins was represented by Grant Lally in the recounting process.

Kaplan, Pollack, Lawlor Mullins, Grant Lally, candidate Ronald Rochester and Police Chief James Salerno were all present at the meeting.

“With the re-count behind, I would like to thank the Port Washington community for their confidence,” Lawlor Mullins said. “I look forward to improving the communications between the Port Washington Police District and all members of the community. I encourage members of the community to attend the Commissioners meetings and become involved. There is much work to be done, let’s move ahead!“
