Port Washington Police to Host Second Forum on Boosting Peninsula's 'Livability'

The event is scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 8.

The Port Washington Police District is sponsoring a panel discussion and community forum on Wednesday, Oct. 8th from 7-9 p.m. in the Jeanne Rimsky Theatre in the Landmark on Main Street at 232 Main Street in Port Washington.

The event aims to inform community members who live or work on the Port Washington peninsula about the ways to preserve and improve the neighborhood’s ”livability.”

The event is part of the the Community Streets Initiative, whose goals are to

  • discourage undesirable driver behavior
  • encourage safe pedestrian and bicycle use
  • improve the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers
  • involve community members in solving traffic problems
  • make efficient use of tax dollars by prioritizing requests for improvements

The panel will include members of the Port Washington Police District, as well as representatives from: Sands Point Police Department, Nassau County Police Department, Port Washington School District’s Transportation Department, Nassau County Department of Traffic Safety, Town of North Hempstead, and the Port Washington-Manhasset Office of Emergency Management.
