Port Washington Resident to Appear on 'Jeopardy!' Tonight
Catch Laura Mogul on your television screen at 7 p.m.

You might recognize a familiar face on your television screen while watching “Jeopardy!” Thursday at 7 p.m.
Port Washington resident Laura Mogul, who works as the executive director of Landmark of Main Street, always had a talent for remembering random facts.
“I retain a lot of odd information in my head and ‘Jeopardy!’ is the only place where that’s useful” she told Patch.

Landing a spot on the show isn’t easy, either, and Mogul has made the cut more than once.
Mogul, who has been watching the show her entire life, previously appeared on “Jeopardy!” when she was 18.

Normally, contestants aren’t allowed to appear on the show more than once, but the popular game show was owned by a different production company at the time.
“I think one of the reasons I was interesting to [the producers] was because I’ve been on the show before,” she said.
To get on the show, approximately 100,000 people take an online try-out test every year. Mogul has taken the test three times and was always among the 2,500 people who made it to the second round.
This year, she finally got to the third round of the process. Mogul flew to Los Angeles to film the show in February.
Mogul couldn’t tell Patch any spoilers about the episode, but she admitted it was a very exciting match. “Even the people who were producing the show said it was one of the more exciting matches they have ever seen."
Mogul says her knowledge of random information hasn’t come in handy since she’s been working at Landmark, but she hopes it will one day. As executive director, Mogul is responsible for the entire building.
If you ever see Mogul around town, feel free to test her in your topic of expertise. After being a contestant on “Jeopardy!,” she’s used to it.
