Port Washington’s Newest Rabbi Joins the Clergy Team at The Community Synagogue

The Community Synagogue of Port Washington is welcoming, Rabbi Sam Pollak to the clergy team of Senior Rabbi Irwin Zeplowitz and Cantor Claire Franco. Rabbi Sam Pollak will take the role of Assistant Rabbi, June 2017, as Associate Rabbi Danny Burkeman, who has been with The Community Synagogue for almost six years, steps into a new role as senior rabbi in a Reform congregation in Massachusetts. Rabbi Pollak will work, learn and pray alongside Rabbi Irwin Zeplowitz, who has been senior rabbi at The Community Synagogue for over fourteen years.
About Rabbi Sam Pollak
Sam Pollak, comes to Port Washington from Cincinnati, Ohio, which is both his hometown and the location of his rabbinical studies. In Cincinnati and surrounding areas, Jewish life has anchored his identity—growing up in an intergenerational havurah, spending many summers at the Reform Movement’s regional camp, and participating in the Hillel community during his undergraduate years at The Ohio State University. Sam is eager to continue learning, praying, and growing at The Community Synagogue. He also enjoys reading, cooking, yoga, singing and sharing those activities with others. Joining him in Port Washington will be his soon-to-be husband, Ari Abelman.
