Port Washington Water District Supports Fix a Leak Week – March 20 - 26
Proactive leak repairs will not only save thousands of gallons of water but will result in lower water bills

More than 1 trillion gallons of water are wasted in U.S. homes each year from easy-to-fix leaks. That is more than 10,000 gallons per year for the average home. The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense® program is sponsoring Fix a Leak Week to highlight the problem of wasted water in homes across the country. Both the Port Washington Water District and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) are WaterSense® partners, who are promoting Fix a Leak Week in New York.
WaterSense, is a partnership program by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, that seeks to protect the future of our nation's water supply by offering people a simple way to use less water with water-efficient products, new homes, and services (https://www3.epa.gov/watersense).
We encourage you to improve the water efficiency of your home by finding and fixing leaks. Visit the Water District website at http://www.pwwd.org/conservation.php and DEC’s Saving Water Makes Good Sense webpage for water saving tips.
