The community can dispose of their unwanted prescription drugs in a safe, free, anonymous and eco-friendly way.

Members of the community can help prevent pill abuse and theft by emptying their homes of unwanted and unused prescription drugs thanks to the Port Washington Police District.
A prescription drug drop box can be found in the lobby of Police Headquarters, 500 Port Washington Boulevard.

“Residents can drop off prescription pills or patches 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No questions will be asked,” Police Chief James Salerno said.
Liquids, needles and sharps are not accepted.

Disposing of pills by flushing them down the toilet, or by throwing them in the trash posts potential environmental, safety and health hazards, the DEA reported.
Studies reveal that the majority of abused prescription drugs are taken from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet, according to the Port Washington Police Department.
So, bring your prescription drugs to Port Washington Police Headquarters to get rid of them the right way.
