PW's Parent Resource Center Awarded $10K Grant

The PRC saw some renovations thanks to the Community Chest of Port Washington.

The Parent Resource Center was awarded a $10,000 grant to fund the renovation of their floors this summer.

These renovation plans, in addition to the new floors, include the creation of modern and stimulating classrooms, a drop-in indoor playscape, a parent lounge with coffee and free wi-fi and renovations to the bathrooms.

The grant was funded by the Mertz Community Resource Committee, a grant fund of the Community Chest of Port Washington.

“The Community Chest of Port Washington has generously supported the PRC’s Outreach Program for more than 20 years, and now the Mertz Community Resource Fund is also helping the PRC with its renovations,” Leila Noor, PRC Director of Development, said in a statement.

The Board of Directors acknowledged that the PRC needed several renovations as the organization celebrated its 35-year anniversary this year.

About 600 people who use the PRC facilities each year will benefit from these renovations.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Oct. 24 at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the completion of the first two stages of the renovations.
