Readers Choice: Best Sporting Goods Store in Port

This week, Patch asked readers  for where in town is the best place to purchase sporting goods and athletic gear in Port Washington. 

After days of voting, readers ultimately selected  as their go-to place for all things sports. The retailer was by far the favorite, winning with 83 percent of all votes cast. 

The shop is known for its brand-name lacrosse sticks, bats and basketballs, as well as T's and sweats, and other garments.

This retailer is also popular with local teams for its custom screen-printing and embroidery service.

"We're very happy to be recognized for this honor," said Chris Avazis, one of the owners. "We realize we cannot fulfill all our customers needs but we try to make up for it with our customization capabilities and customer service. Thank you to all our loyal customes."

Some Port Washington residents wouldn't dream of hitting the big box stores whenever they are in the market for sporting goods.

"Arena has "everything" (and will gladly special order anything else)," one reader wrote in.
