Report: Schreiber Among Nation's Top 500 High Schools

The findings are according to an annual list by U.S. News & World Report.

Schreiber High School is one of the top performing schools in the country, according to this year’s U.S. News & World Report high school rankings.

Of 500 best high schools in the country, the school ranks 241st, and 40th in New York State. The school had a STEM rank of 150.

The study looked at more than 19,400 public high schools, and takes into account such factors as participation rate in Advanced Placement courses and exams. In addition to test scores, the list also provides a breakdown of minority enrollment, the percentage of economically disadvantaged students enrolled, and the number of full-time teachers at the school.

The school’s AP participation rate is 68 percent. Its student body makeup is 49 percent male and 51 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 32 percent. 

The school scored 60.5 on the list’s College Readiness Index, 3.5 on math proficiency, 3.7 on English proficiency, and has a student-teacher ratio of 13:1.

Schools in the area within the top 500 are in Garden City, Rockville Centre, Great Neck, Syosset, New Hyde Park, Port Washington, Plainview and Half Hollow Hills.
