Ackerman Gets A+ on Foreign Policy

Rep. Gary Ackerman honored by high mark

Citizens for Global Solutions recently gave Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-Roslyn, an A+ grade for his support of foreign policy issues. Ackerman is one of three New York Representatives to recieve the grade as part of the 2012 Congressional Report Card.

"I am honored to be awarded the highest rating possible for my record on key foreign policy issues," Ackerman said. "Foreign affairs is not something that occurs far away from home; it deeply affects the daily lives of all Americans, and is critical to the prosperity and security of our nation. I thank Citizens for Global Solutions for bringing much needed attention to these critical issues, and I will continue to champion them for many years to come."

Don Kraus, CEO of Citizens for Global Solutions said, "We are pleased that Rep. Ackerman not only ‘made the grade’ for his voting record, but that he also got extra credit for going ‘above and beyond’ in championing the issues that are important to our members."

Ackerman received extra credit for speaking out against cuts to the Global Climate Change Initiative. "Rep. Ackerman understands that international cooperation is essential, to build a safer, more secure world," Kraus noted.

Citizens for Global Solutions says their grades were determined by tabulating the scores of 11 votes in the House that were weighted to reflect the importance of legislation to Citizens for Global Solutions’ core values. A legislator’s eligibility for extra credit was decided by the extent of his or her promotion of our core issues.
