Salerno Named Port Washington's Next Chief of Police
James Salerno has served as acting police chief since May 2013, when William J. Kilfoil retired. Salerno will be the district's tenth chief.

James Salerno will be promoted as the tenth chief of the Port Washington Police District.
At the Sept. 23 Board of Police Commissioners meeting, a motion made by Commissioner Dave Franklin was unanimously approved to promote Salerno to chief of police.
A 29-year veteran of the police district, Salerno has served as acting chief since May of 2013. He replaces Chief William J. Kilfoil, who retired after nearly 40 years of service, the last 20 as chief of police.

A swearing-in ceremony will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, at 11 a,m. at the Atlantic Hook & Ladder Co. # 1 at 25 Carlton Avenue in Port Washington.
