Sally Miller rehearses local models & visits the room she inspired in the Design Showhouse at Hempstead House
Girls' couture clothing designer, Sally Miller, held a rehearsal this afternoon in Castle Gould's Great Hall in preparation for the Sally Miller Fashion Show on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. More than 30 local girls were trained by Sally and her team to walk the runway like professional models. Each girl was fitted for the perfect outfit for her to wear in the show and was coached in simple hair and makeup ideas.
Earlier in the day, Sally visited the Design Showhouse at Hempstead House - and loved the room that her own designs inspired. Metropolitan Institute of Design's Fern Rubenstein (Senior Designer) and Erin Andrews (Design Assistant) created a unique girl's bedroom entitled "Dress the Part." The room features a mini-runway and provides a peaceful, colorful retreat for girls to dream, dance, sing, and create.
The Design Showhouse runs November 2 - 24, 2013, Wednesdays through Mondays (closed Tuesdays), 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person, $10 parking fee per car (free for Friends Members). On November 23, 2013, tickets include both the Design Showhouse and the Sally Miller Fashion Show - free for children 8 years and up, accompanied by a paying adult.
