Position Breakdown: Josh Feshbach, a senior guard, is one of the team's top scorers. He also does a lot of the team's ball handling, Dooley said.

"Jake Froccaro Is a forward who will also be someone we look to for scoring and rebounding," Dooley said, adding, "hes also one of our best defenders."

Expectations for this season: Dooley is hoping to have what he calls "a positive season." He would also like the team to make the playoffs after becoming one of the top four teams in its conference.

"We will probably be the smallest team in the league so we will need to really work as a team and we won't be able to rely on any one individual to be successful," Dooley said.

Key games: The team's coaches versus cancer game is on Jan. 6 against Plainview.

Wrestling

Last season's record: 14-7 in conference 2.

Conference: Conference 1.

Coach: Anthony Schettino. This year is his 20th year coaching the wrestling team after starting in the PYA youth program in fourth grade and wrestling through high school and college.

"I have a lot of time and love invested in this program and it means a lot to me and every coach, wrestler, parent and fan who’s in or has come through the program," Schettino said.

Position breakdown: "We have 55 guys on the team this season and although we are a fairly young team we have many tough wrestlers including some of the younger guys," Schettino said.

The team's seniors include: Anthony D’Aversa, Mike Froccaro, Noah Tanenbaum and Wayne Baker. Juniors Christian Castillo and Tony Kim.

Schettino considers sophomore Nick Dilucia a "wrestler to watch" and the team also includes seventh grade youth national champion Timmy Castillo. Both Castillo and eighth grader Teddy Tanenbaum are a "testament to the work being done with our PYA Youth Wrestling Program," Schettino said.

Expectations for this season: "We want to win every dual meet we wrestle and place as many guys in every tournament as possible including the Section 8 Qualifying and County Tournaments," Schettino said.

The team is also aiming to have many All County players.

Key game:  One of the team's big dual meets is against Oeanside, Baldwin and Hempstead on Jan. 4.

Gymnastics

Last season's record: 6-3 in conference II.

Conference this year: Conference II.

Coach: Melissa Havern.

Position breakdown: Top seniors include Jessica Medaglia on the vault, bars and floor; Candace Yap on the vault, bars and floor; Carolyn Nevins on the vault; and Gabrie Davidoff on the beam.

Expectations for this season: "We would like to maintain or exceed our team record last year of 6-3 and stay in the top half of our conference," Havern said.

Key Games: The team's toughest competitors include Cold Spring Harbor, Carle Place, and South Side.
