Schreiber Freshman Wins Girls High Jump at 92nd Annual Port Washington Invitational
Nicole Ziv tops Sowoon Park of Great Neck North to take first in high jump competition.
The high jump competition at the 92nd Port Washington Track & Field Invitational came down to two girls. Sowoon Park, a freshman from Great Neck North, and Nicole Ziv, Schreiber's own freshman high jumper.
After Park easily cleared the 4-feet-4-inch mark, Ziv nicked the bar on her first attempt at that height. However, the Schreiber freshman composed herself, and matched Park's leap by clearing the bar on her second attempt.
The bar was then moved to 4-feet-6-inches. Ziv went first. With a burst of speed, she left her feet and arched over the bar, pulling her legs up and over. Park would have three tries to match Ziv's mark, but could not quite get her legs over the bar.
