'Searching for Sugar Man' at Port Washington Library

Oscar-winning documentary has two showings Friday.

See “Searching for Sugar Man,” at the Port Washington Public Library on Friday at 12:10 p.m, and 7:30 p.m.

This  2012 Oscar-winning documentary takes place in Detroit in the early 1970s, when a folk singer-songwriter named Rodriguez enjoys a brief recording career. Shortly after, he disappears from the music industry, with some believing he had committed suicide. His music lives on, however, in South Africa, where his songs are widely credited with triggering the movement to quash Apartheid.
