Special Education Students From Port Washington Hurt in School Bus Crash
BREAKING: An ambulance took two students to the hospital following the Monday afternoon crash, State Police say.
Two children were hospitalized after a school bus carrying students from a special education school in Port Washington was involved in a crash on the Meadowbrook State Parkway on Monday afternoon, State Police say.
According to authorities, the school bus driver, identified as Freeport resident Maria Delgado, was transporting four children from the Vincent Smith School in the southbound lanes of the parkway between Exits M5 and M6 when she rear-ended a vehicle in front of the bus at 3:46 p.m.
Police say the driver failed to observe the stopped traffic in front of the bus, causing a collision with a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. The occupants in the Hyundai were unharmed, police say.

An ambulance transported two children on the bus to Nassau County Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. The children were treated and released.
The Vincent Smith School is considered a premiere special education school on Long Island that addresses the needs of special education students, according to the school's website.
