Susan J. Miller Seeks Seat on Port Washington Library Board of Trustees
The candidate submitted a letter to the editor urging residents to vote in the April 4 election.

Susan J. Miller, a well-known and highly regarded community resident / activist seeks a seat on the Port Washington Public Library Board of Trustees at the April 4, 2017 election. Eleven years ago, the former Chair of the NYC Alumni Association was invited to join the Washington University in St. Louis National Library Council, an advisory board whose members support the University and eleven School or Departmental libraries at twice-yearly meetings. “I want to marshall over 30 years of successful financial, legal, community, business and common sense skills, Senior care experiences, and strategies accrued while volunteering for educational, pediatric cancer and Jewish charities to work for Port Washington residents on behalf of our great Library system, successes that this Library needs and that Port residents deserve.” Miller said.
The 26 year Flower Hill resident who worked previously as a real estate Attorney, Wall St. real estate Finance professional, is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and holds an M.A. in Urban Affairs and Policy Analysis from the New School for Social Research. She and her husband Daryl Rosenblatt, Winthrop Hospital Cancer Center for Kids 2008 Black & White Ball Honorees, are parents of Schreiber graduates David, Noah and Eric Rosenblatt. Fourteen month old Nina Rosenblatt succumbed to a brain tumor at 14 months in May of 1993.

Miller also knows firsthand the challenges of the “Sandwich Generation”: “Grandpa Saul”, her 100% blind dad, shared the family’s home for over seven years, starting at age 90. Now, she commutes bi-monthly to Florida to care for 91 y.o. “Uncle Jack” Miller served ten years on the board of the Childrens’ Brain Tumor Foundation, spearheading fundraisers for 543 people and advocating for increased Federal research and funding. The Hadassah Life Member serves on UJA’s Legislative Affairs Committee and has met privately with Congresspeople and Senators on “Washington Missions”. She leads monthly social action events as the Reconstructionist Synagogue’s representative to the TANS Alliance, a consortium of 12 area Synagogues and 2 JCCs.

Miller urges all residents to attend the Tuesday, March 28 Candidates Night and Budget Session at the Port Washington Library from 7:40 pm to 9:00 pm. Election day voting is Tuesday, April 4, 2017 solely at the Library from 7 AM to 9 PM. Miller urges eligible Port Washington residents to vote in person or in print. If necessary, download and return an Absentee Ballot Application to 1 Library Drive, Port Washington, NY 11050. The ballot will be mailed to each applicant and must be returned completed by April 3rd. Absentee Ballots: www.pwpl.org.
