Team 'Port Voices' Raises $9K to End the Stigma Around Mental Illness
The students took part in the National Alliance on Mental Illness' Annual Long Island/Queens NAMIWalk on Saturday.

Members of team “Port Voices” raised approximately $9,000 to help end the stigma around those affected by mental illness during a recent fundraising walk.
Approximately 70 students from Schreiber High School and Weber Middle School, under the direction of guidance teacher Linda Manzo, took part in the National Alliance on Mental Illness’ Annual Long Island/Queens NAMIWalk at Jones Beach State Park on Saturday.
The funds raised will support NAMI’s programs and services that aid individuals affected by mental illness.

“Port Voices” hopes these funds will help those suffering from mental illnesses receive the same care and compassion as someone suffering from a non-invisible illness.
Senator Jack Martins even made an appearance at the event to show his support for “Port Voices.”
