'What to Know Before Opening or Expanding a Business' Workshop in Port

Many commercial real estate brokers and developers, chamber of commerce leaders and business owners provided insight and advice.

More than 60 commercial real estate brokers and developers, chamber of commerce leaders and business owners gathered in Port Washington to hold the first ever “What to Know Before Opening or Expanding a Business” workshop.

Event speakers answered business-related questions and discussed common business pitfalls, including when you should retain a legal professional, on Nov. 18 at the Clubhouse at Harbor Links.

The workshop was hosted by the Town’s Building Department and Business and Tourism Development Corporation and was co-hosted by Long Island Business, which was represented by web editor Adina Genn.

BTDC Executive Director Kim Kaiman and Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth were featured speakers.

“We never forget that it is our businesses that make our communities successful and vibrant,” Bosworth said. “And while we cannot simply hand you the keys to a new store or give you a free month’s rent, we are here today to make your path as easy as possible.”

Presentations were made by Kathleen Deegan Dickson, Esq., Town Deputy Building Commissioner Glenn Norjen, Town Planning Commissioner Michael Levine, and Town Building Commissioner John Niewender.
