Wife, Daughter Escaped Just Before Blast: Cops

Police responded to 911 call prior to explosion

Police have not yet identified the man who died in Tuesday’s explosion in Port Washington. But 1010 WINS is reporting that Mike MacNeill, who neighbors said was married to the woman who escaped from the home with a two-year-old child, “is unaccounted for.”

Police were already on the scene at the home on Prospect Avenue before the explosion for a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute, according to a Newsday report.

Multiple authorities are saying that the fire may have been deliberate.

“It looks like there were flammable liquids involved,” Brian Waterson, Port Washington Fire Department’s assistant chief told the New York Post.

A photo on Mike MacNeill’s Facebook page shows the trunk of a car containing propane tanks and red gas cans.

The caption from December 2013, reads: “If you’re gonna go out with a bang, might as well do it right with 25 gallons of gas and 40lbs of propane.”
