Potsdam students awarded for Top Research and Creative Work (informnny.com) — SUNY Potsdam students and their faculty mentors were recently celebrated for standout research and creative projects at the College’s 2026 Learning and Research Fair in the Barrington Student Union. More than 50 students presented work spanning sciences, social sciences, humanities and public service, with $1,000 in prizes and multiple awards recognizing both student excellence and outstanding faculty mentorship.

Upstate New York College Student Killed In Drunk Hit-And-Run (943litefm.com) — A 20-year-old SUNY Potsdam student was killed early Saturday when an SUV left Pierrepont Avenue, drove onto a front lawn near campus, and struck her as she visited friends off-campus. Potsdam police arrested an 18-year-old Brasher Falls man hours later, charging him with leaving the scene of a fatal crash and alcohol-related offenses, while SUNY Potsdam leaders and teammates mourn her loss.

Madrid-Waddington Central names 2026 class leaders (northcountrynow.com) — Madrid-Waddington Central School has named its Class of 2026 academic leaders, including top graduate Sophia Rogers, who’s headed to SUNY Potsdam with major scholarship support. Several classmates earned honors diplomas, scholarships to regional colleges, and recognition for music, athletics, and community service, highlighting achievements that many North Country and Potsdam-connected families will recognize.
