11-Year-Old Boy Shot In Crown Heights Street, Police Say
A young boy was shot on Schenectady Avenue in Brooklyn Thursday night by a gunman who tried to shoot someone else and missed, police said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — An 11-year-old boy was shot down on a Crown Heights street corner by a gunman aiming for someone else, police said.
The gunman shot the young boy and a 31-year-old man outside a supermarket on Schenectady Avenue between St. Johns and Lincoln places at about 7 p.m. Thursday evening, police said.
"Our perp walked up ... displayed a firearm and shot multiple rounds," said NYPD Deputy Chief Michael Kemper."The intended target was not hit."

Police found the 11-year-old lying in the street with a gunshot wound in his shoulder, according to NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey.
Emergency responders rushed the 11-year-old to Kings County Hospital where he went into surgery, according to police.

The 31-year-old, who was shot in the knee, took himself to Kings County Hospital, police said.
Both were reported in stable condition Thursday night and are expected to survive their injuries.
Police took a person of interest into custody Thursday night whom Kemper said "very well might be the individual responsible."
Mayor Bill de Blasio asked New Yorkers with information about the shooting to contact police, and said he was praying for the boy in critical condition.
