16-Year-Old Shot Dead At Crown Heights Housing Complex: Cops

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A 16-year-old boy was killed at the Kingsborough Houses late Tuesday in what was at least the seventh shooting in North Brooklyn in the last week.

The teenager was found with a gunshot wound to his chest on the first floor of a building on Kingsborough Walk 3 just after 10 p.m., police said. He was taken to Interfaith Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

There were no arrests as of Wednesday morning, according to police.

The shooting is at least the seventh in the borough in the last week as Brooklyn continues to deal with a months-long surge in gun violence. Four of the other shootings also killed young men.

Most recently, a 34-year-old man was found dead at the Hughes Houses in Brownsville just after midnight on Wednesday.

A 20-year-old tourist was killed on Saturday by a stray bullet in a Bushwick shooting.

In Bed-Stuy, a 28-year-old and a 22-year-old died in separate shootings last week and two others were injured in a third shooting, thought to be retaliation for the 22-year-old's death.

Six people were also shot in Prospect Lefferts last week, one of whom died.
