Car Plummets 20 Feet Into Brooklyn's Atlantic Train Yard: FDNY

Two people are in critical condition after falling into the train yard near Vanderbilt Avenue, officials said.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A car plummeted 20 feet onto the tracks at the Atlantic Train Yard, fire officials said, leaving its two occupants in critical condition.

The car fell more than 20 feet onto train tracks at the Atlantic Train Yard, near Atlantic and Vanderbilt avenues, about 12:45 p.m. officials said.

First responders pulled the pair from the car and rushed them to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition, FDNY officials said.

Social media photos show a black Audi SUV turned on its side with the front of the car smashed in.

The MTA, who owns and operates the train yard for LIRR service, confirmed the incident and said that despite the car still being on the tracks, service is not disrupted at this time.
