Cardinals Improve, But Struggle To Finish
The Prospect Heights Campus played solid defense during the first half, but failed to hold off Grand Street Campus in the second.

The Prospect Heights Campus girls soccer team lost 7-0 against the Grand Street Campus Lady Panthers Tuesday evening. However, the lopsided score did not reflect the competitiveness of the first half or the team's improvement since the first time they faced Grand Street.
Grand Street dominated the ball for much of the first half as they attacked the Cardinals in their territory. Prospect Heights failed to muster a shot on goal during the half, but their defensive play was stout. They held Grand Street to only one score, a goal by Tia McDowell with five minutes left to play before halftime.
At the half first-year head coach Melissa Gitlin and the Cardinals felt good to be in the game and the coach reminded her team of their first meeting with the Lady Panthers.
"Remember the score of the last game as we lost nine to one," said Gitlin. "It is only one goal and we have plenty of time left."
Despite Gitlin's optimism, the game slipped away from there as two of Grand Street's star players took over in the second half. McDowell would add three more goals while Diamond Ballard would net an additional three to make the final score Grand Street 7, Prospect Heights 0.
"We just lost some momentum," said Gitlin. "We just lost some will but we will recover."
The Cardinals' record now stands at 2-7-1.
In their first meeting against Grand Street Campus the Prospect Heights girls soccer team was not competitive at all. The Cardinals suffered a brutal nine to one loss to the Lady Panthers in September, which they had hoped to revenge Tuesday evening.
The Cardinals have yet to win a game on the field. Their only two wins have come via early forfeits by Boys & Girls High School. With the playoffs out of reach, Prospect Heights will look to close out their season with a win at Tilden High School on Sunday.
