City To Spray For Mosquitoes In Prospect Heights, Park Slope
The Department of Health is sending trucks to spray mosquito-killing pesticides in parts of Brooklyn starting Thursday night.
BROOKLYN, NY — The Department of Health is sending trucks to spray mosquito-killing pesticides in western Brooklyn.
Parts of Borough Park, Greenwood Heights, Gowanus, Kensington, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Windsor Terrace will get sprayed from 8:30 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. the next morning, the department said.
The pesticides will be sprayed on Tuesday, Sept. 8 instead if it rains on Thursday.

The pesticides, DeltaGard and Anvil, pose a low risk to people and pets, but some may experience eye or throat irritation or rashes. Those with respiratory conditions may also be affected.
During the spraying, people should stay indoors and use soap and water to wash any clothing and skin that may have been exposed to the pesticides, according to the Department of Health.

Air conditioners can stay on.
The department has done similar spraying in Queens and Staten Island in recent weeks as part of an effort to reduce mosquito activity and the risk of West Nile virus.
Here are the specific borders in Brooklyn where health officials will spray the pesticides:
- Fourth Avenue to the West
- Atlantic Avenue to the North
- Classon Avenue, Washington Avenue, and Flatbush Avenue to the East
- Parkside Avenue, Ocean Parkway, Fort Hamilton Parkway, Dahill Road, 45th Street, Fort Hamilton Parkway, and, 39th Street to the South.
