Prospect Heights Music & Arts Festival featuring Chamber Band + Morning Sea + Sky Captains of Industry + Little Lesley & The Bloodshots + Fantastic Plastics @ The Way Station

Live Music: July 17, 2015, 8pm-1am, The Way Station, 683 Washington Ave, BK, http://waystationbk.blogspot.com/ $5 suggested donation

8pm- Chamber Band
Genre: Coffee rock
For fans of: The Decemberists, They Might Be Giants, Dungeons & Dragons

With unchecked charisma and a near-mythical dedication to pouring every last ounce of themselves into their performances, Brooklyn mainstays Chamber Band have ascended to indie rock notoriety in a scene already notorious for being pretty far out there. Gorgeous guy-girl harmonies ascend over spirited beats and bass, then descend into agonized groans for love won and lost, all with enough magical underpinnings and references to geek arcana that you’ll be knowingly nudging your dance partner between tunes. The perfect scene for music nerds (and nerd nerds) who, above all, just want to dance.

“Unholy.” – San Diego Reader
“A critical hit.” – Trollish Delver
“This is the shit right here.” – Nerd Titan
“Damn good… damn good indeed.” – Geek Radio Daily (GRD 198)
“Epic… worthy of the bardic tradition.” – BlogCritics.org
“I was reminded of Led Zeppelin, another band that never shied away from constructing little lyrical universes.”– Feast of Music
“Seriously, if you haven’t already clicked on the link to their Bandcamp page and bought this, you need to do that right now.” - Geekland

9pm- Morning Sea
Genre: Pop, Americana
For fans of: Rock n’ Roll, Whiskey, Night-time

The Morning Sea is an NYC-based indie-folk-blues-pop-rock n’ roll experience, founded by singer-songwriter Adam Cohen. Their debut EP, “Strange Captive”, was released in May 2014.

“A softly moving, seductive chamber-pop folk collective…one-half confessional late night crooner, and one-half whimsical wanderer…” –The Deli Magazine

10pm- Sky Captains of Industry
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic Rock and Roll
For fans of: David Bowie, Devo, Queen

The Sky Captains of Industry came from the future to inform you about the upcoming apocalypse and/or to rock it to rubble. Are they men? Are they machines? Will they indeed save the rest of your heart?

While allegories dressed as science fiction may not be new to this world, they’ve never been more aesthetically pleasing than they are here. I mean, at bottom, once you strip away all the concept and metaphor, Rocket City is just a really, really great sounding record of awesome songs.”— Chris Michael, Eat That Guitar

11pm- Little Lesley and The Bloodshots
Genre: Rockabilly
For fans of: Wanda Jackson, The Chop Tops, Link Wray, Elvis Presley, The Living Deads, Hank Williams III

The Bloodshots are up-and-comers that have been taking the neo-Rockabilly scene by storm with their twangy roots sound and high energy live show. Little Lesley, the feisty blond bombshell on standup bass and lead vocals, brings it every time with a voice that’s a mind-blowing mix of Wanda Jackson and Patsy Cline, and jaw-dropping bass moves.

Midnight Special- The Fantastic Plastics
Genre: Neo New Wave
For fans of: Devo, The Flaming Lips, Man or Astroman?, B-52s, The Faint, The Cars, Blondie, The White Stripes

If Devo and The White Stripes hooked up and had a love child that child would be The Fantastic Plastics. A 2 piece Girl/Boy combo, The Fantastic Plastics deliver big sound with their Moog synth, big rock guitars, and electro drum and bass. Their electric stage show is enhanced with vintage TVs, and Atari Video Music machine, costumes, and songs you can’t help but sing along to all night long. We Are Obsolete!
