Prospect Heights Primed for Playoffs
The Cardinals boys soccer team is ready to make a run at the city title after an impressive regular season.
The Prospect Heights Campus boys soccer team has looked dominant all season long, but the Cardinals' goal was never regular season success. They've been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to prove themselves in the postseason, and now they will have that chance.
On Thursday, the Public Schools Athletic League announced the seedings for the boys soccer B playoffs and Prospect Heights received the two seed in the "A" playoff bracket.
The Cardinals, who finished the regular season with a 13-1 record en route to capturing the Brooklyn B North Division title, will play the seven seed High School of Art & Design Bulldogs on Saturday.

It's the highest position Prospect Heights has entered the postseason at under co-coaches Albert Berger and Hayden Grant.
"It feels great," said Berger. "We worked hard and we deserve it."

However, the coaching staff insists that the higher seed is not the focus of the team and that winning is the only goal at this point in the season. They say every opponent they face will have their respect.
Their first round opponent finished with a 7-7 record. Prospect Heights easily defeated many of the .500 teams within their own division.
"There is not really any extra pressure but this team is a 7-7 team and we should win," Grant said. "Teams in our division with similar records we always blew out."
Their first playoff game will be held at Boys & Girls Field, where they defeated Automotive High School this past Saturday. Familiarity with the field that they have already played on twice this season could be a huge advantage for the Cardinals, who are looking to capture their first title.
"We are on the road and hopefully we can go all the way," said Grant. "Right now we are eating, drinking and sleeping the city championship. "
If the Cardinals advance, they'll face the winner of the matchup between School of the Future and Transit Tech Career and Technical Education High School.
