Rubber Soul 50 at The Way Station on December 5, 2015

Hard to believe, but 50 years have passed since the release of The Beatles timeless album, Rubber Soul. And to mark the occasion, The Way Station will present Rubber Soul 50 on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 8pm. Three Brooklyn-based bands will take the stage and perform this beloved album in its entirety, re-interpreting one of The Beatles’ greatest recordings. It’s hard to imagine the world without songs like “Norwegian Wood,” “Michelle” and “In My Life.“ Sophisticated hooks and themes were reveled on such songs as the Byrds-influenced “If I Needed Someone,” George Harrison’s mod anthem “Think For Yourself,” and the only song that has just enough cowbell, “Drive My Car.” All classics. Gone were the teen romance records, replaced by love songs with newly explored depth, like “You Won’t See Me,“ “The Word, “ and “I’m Looking Through You.” And there was more bitterness than bubble gum on this album, demonstrated by “Wait” and “Run for Your Life.” Don’t miss Rubber Soul 50, at The Way Station, 683 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY on December 5th at 8pm.
