This year, the Queens Walk to End Alzheimer’s event features a virtual Promise Garden ceremony in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The view-only, mission-focused, activity will allow participants to take part in an interactive online experience, through a ceremony which represents the promise to remember, honor, care and fight for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. The flowers highlight the diverse reasons for Walk participation and collectively create a dynamic, colorful and meaningful garden.
All participants are invited to download the Walk to End Alzheimer’s app, which sends fundraising messages and tracks each individual’s progress throughout the day. To promote social distancing, participants can follow a virtual path in their own neighborhood. New Yorkers are encouraged to share photos on social media and track every step to add to the total number walked around the country.
