Event Details
As part of its Spring 2026 programming, the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning (JCAL) presents Riddim Section 2026 featuring GRAMMY-nominated percussionist Chembo Corniel, a leading force in Afro-Cuban jazz whose work bridges tradition and innovation. The series spotlights world-class artists celebrating musical traditions drawn from across Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Americas.
Known for his dynamic, rhythm-driven sound and commanding presence, Corniel has performed with legends including Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, and Willie Colón. Leading his ensemble Chembo & Grupo Chaworó, he delivers a vibrant and immersive live performance blending bebop, swing, and Afro-Caribbean traditions—offering audiences a powerful celebration of rhythm, history, and cultural connection.
After kicking off opening in February with Edmar Castañeda, additional dates for Riddim Section feature Andre White and Mark Adams & The Ubiquity Band.
