Celebrating a Creative Jamaica - JCAL Honors Arts, Community & Culture Icons

Jamaica, Queens cultural arts institution set to host annual fundraiser at Jamaica Performing Arts Center in October, 2017


Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning (JCAL) will host its annual benefit; 'Celebrating A Creative Jamaica,’
Thursday, October 26, 2017, 7:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. The benefit will be held at the Jamaica Performing
Arts Center (JPAC) located at 153-10 Jamaica Avenue, Jamaica, NY.

‘Celebrating a Creative Jamaica’ is a spectacular event that highlights special performances and guests
who have helped JCAL shape the economic and cultural landscape of Downtown Jamaica and Southeast
Queens.

"We will honor three extraordinary individuals that have positively affected and contributed to the growth of the arts,” said Cathy Hung, Executive Director, JCAL. Honorees include: Congressman Gregory Weldon Meeks, U.S. Representative for New York's 5th congressional district, Constance M. Orlando, executive, entrepreneur and award-winning producer, and Leon Robinson, actor and singer known for his role as David Ruffin in “The Temptations.”

"JCAL is so proud of the contributions of our honorees to the community and culture in Jamaica,
Queens," says Michelle Stoddart, JCAL Board President.

JCAL is a multi-disciplinary art center that celebrates creative expression by promoting the works of
