Entrepreneur Opens Business to Make a Difference in Queens

BrightStar Care of Fresh Meadows Answers Call for a Higher Standard of Homecare for Local Residents

FRESH MEADOWS, NY – Local entrepreneur Xilin Zhang is fulfilling her dream of making a difference in the lives of Queens residents by opening a BrightStar Care homecare and medical staffing agency. This new business will provide a range of compassionate, person-centered care to people of all ages, from infants to seniors in the safety and comfort of their homes.

BrightStar Care of Fresh Meadows will offer a myriad of comprehensive services that meet the highest industry standards and will be dedicated to helping educate residents on the right questions to ask when searching for an in-home care provider for a loved one. In order to provide the highest standard of care possible, Zhang is looking to add to her current staff of 18 employees by bringing on additional CNAs, HHAs, RNs and PCAs.

After a career in the financial service industry, Zhang began volunteering in the health care space and was immediately attracted to the caring, people oriented nature of the industry which created a strong contrast to the business-focused working environment that she was used to. Through her volunteer work, Zhang began thinking about and planning to make the move to a more meaningful career that would not only positively impact her, but her family and community. When Zhang discovered the BrightStar Care franchise opportunity, she was immediately impressed with the business model and the corporate team and decided to invest in the brand.

“When it comes to proper care, whether its senior care or child care, my personal experience proved that quality and reliability of the agency and caregivers are top priority,” said Zhang. “I knew I wanted to work under a model that has been proved to be successful and puts quality above anything else – and that is truly what BrightStar Care does. I am excited to offer my community the same level of care that I would want for my own loved ones.”

BrightStar Care has conducted third-party research that shows that as families seek quality in-home care for their aging loved ones, the most important factors they consider include having a compassionate caregiver they can trust, somebody who understands the unique needs of their loved one, and having qualified, skilled medical professionals overseeing the care. However, the lack of clinical quality standards within the local and national private duty in-home care sector, combined with the public’s lack of knowledge of the industry, can make it challenging for local families confronted with the need for care or professionals looking to select a trustworthy service partner.

In addition, Zhang’s qualified staff are fluent in multiple languages, making it easy to communicate with the diverse population that resides in Queens. “Being an immigrant and minority myself, I understand how important it is to have a caregiver that can speak a client’s language. Being in a diversified territory like Queens, we try to meet such needs by offering caregivers who speak Chinese, Spanish, Korean, among others,” added Zhang.

Further setting them apart from the competition, BrightStar Care of Fresh Meadow’s Nursing Manager, Pamela Worrell-Springer, creates unique, personalized plans of care for each client and oversees a professional care team of well-qualified, experienced caregivers to deliver expert, compassionate, and personal care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Worrell-Springer has been a Registered Nurse for 20 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at St. Joseph College in New York and her Masters at Pace University in New York. Her professional history includes positions such as a staff nurse in the Emergency room and Medical/Surgical unit. She has a great passion for ensuring the optimal delivery of care and service to patients and families in their designated area and believes that the care givers need to be equipped with the tools that are needed to get the job done.

The Nursing Manager leads regularly scheduled care plan review meetings. The national BrightStar Care franchise received The Joint Commission’s Enterprise Champion for Quality award and is committed to having each of its agencies comply with Joint Commission standards. BrightStar Care also offers all clients access to its CareTogether® program, a free, private secure online caregiving resource.

BrightStar Care of Fresh Meadows is part of a national network of 330 individually owned and operated private duty home care and medical staffing franchisse that provide medical and non-medical services to clients within their homes, as well as supplemental care staff to corporate clients.
