Ex-Congressman Joe Crowley Joins Top Lobbying Firm

Two of Joe Crowley's former staffers also joined lobbying firms since the congressman left office in January.

QUEENS, NY - Former U.S. Representative Joe Crowley has joined one of the largest lobbying groups in the country.

The Queens native started working for Squire Patton Boggs' global public policy practice on Tuesday. Squire Patton Boggs is the third-largest lobbying firm in Washington, D.C., according to a Washington Business Journal ranking based on lobbying income in 2017.

“We were honored to hear from many of the great firms in town since leaving Congress, and chose what we think is the very best place to continue our careers," Crowley said in a statement. "Serving in Congress was an honor of a lifetime and I look forward to working on many of the same issues in this new role."

Two of Crowley's former staffers have also joined Washington lobbying groups since he left office last month. Former policy director Kevin Casey joined the S-3 Group, and former chief of staff Kate Winkler Keating became a vice president at the Duberstein Group, according to POLITICO.

Crowley represented northern Queens and the eastern Bronx in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1999 to 2019. He chaired the House Democratic Caucus from 2017 to 2019. He was ousted from his seat by newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a Democratic primary election in June.
