Meet Your New Local Editor For Queens

Hi, Patch readers! I'm Maya, the new local editor for Queens.

I studied political science at Kenyon College, a small liberal arts school in Ohio, and received my master's degree from Columbia Journalism School, where I specialized in investigative reporting. I have written for The New York Times, Bloomberg News, the Miami Herald and The Columbus Dispatch.

I'm a Manhattan native, but my roots are in Queens — I grew up visiting my grandparents in Queens Village. (They moved there from the Bronx in 1959.) I look forward to reporting on the place my family called home for decades and telling the stories that matter to your neighborhood. I'm currently living in Astoria.
