Queens Man Stabs Wife To Death, Then Kills Himself: Reports

OZONE PARK, QUEENS — A man stabbed his wife to death in his Queens home, then hanged himself, three months after he was arrested for attacking her, according to police and news reports.

Dineshwar Budhidat, 33, killed his wife in his Ozone Park home Friday before taking his own life, the New York Daily News reported.

Police found the woman, 27-year-old South Ozone Park resident Donne Dojoy, with several stab wounds to the torso in the Albert Road apartment the couple once shared. She died on the scene.

The couple had gotten married in July, Dojoy's sister told the Daily News. Several weeks later, Dojoy's husband was arrested for attacking her.

Dojoy got an order of protection against him and moved out of their apartment, the Daily News reported. She was visiting him when she was killed.

Budhidat texted his cousin to say he'd killed Dojoy and planned to kill himself, according to Daily News. The cousin called 911.

By the time police found him in Brooklyn's Spring Creek Park, about a mile and a half from the apartment, the man was dead, the Daily News reported.

Dojoy, who was known as Rehanna, had worked as a bartender at Gemini's Ultra Lounge.

"I knew you since you first came to this country, we once lived under the same roof and we share many laughters n memories together," Wanda Garib, one of Dojoy's coworkers at the South Ozone Park lounge, wrote on Facebook. "Not only were u my coworker but u were also a friend."

"Tears can't stop pouring for you baby girl, you didn't deserve this," she added.

The city has seen three murder-suicides involving domestic violence in the last week.

A Brooklyn man shot his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, then killed himself over the weekend. Before that, a Harlem man hanged himself after decapitating his wife and killing their five-year-old daughter.

NYPD officials say they often have no warning before such slayings, because most domestic violence is not reported, according to the New York Times. But, in the case of the Harlem and Queens murder-suicides, both women had gotten orders of protection against abusive husbands.
